CFC is located at the core of the starting area of Guangzhou Financial City, which is jointly built by Shimao Group, China Resources Land Limited, and KWG Group Holdings Limited, and boasts a two-way waterfront view of the river and superior transportation conditions. The total construction area of the project is about 410,000 square meters. The project consists of a 320-meter super Grade A office building, two platinum apartments and a high-end shopping mall.


The project is positioned as the first 5G intelligent office building in Guangzhou. 5G means Great Security, Gentle office, Green Intelligence, Gorgeous Service and Good Health, and 5G Intelligence actually refers to 5 dimensions of intelligent scenarios. The 5G Intelligence actually refers to 5 dimensions of intelligent scenarios, including safe passage, comfortable office, intelligent technology, service management, and healthy design. Perfectly combining technology and products to provide considerate service.


The project tower is a super-high-rise unit curtain wall building, and the number of curtain wall systems served by Forcitis for this project reaches dozens of types, with a wide range of materials, more than 10 types of glass and 3 types of metal panels, which involves the whole process from program design to construction landing.


Forcitis's team started to intervene from the program stage, initially communicating with the owner and the program company on the highlights of the project for many rounds to understand the architect's design intent, researching the façade characteristics of the adapted curtain wall system, providing program selection documents, and ultimately determining the system's use of materials and connection forms. During the construction phase, we also carried out many on-site inspections and cooperated with the on-site problem solving.

Infinite loop façade aesthetics 


The project tower is a spatially slightly twisted ultra-high-rise modular curtain wall building, presenting a twisted and tapering form. In the four elevations, three small arcs with radius R=5m and one large arc with gradual change of radius are used for transition. At the two ends of the large arc, a 1.5m wide ribbon line is set up to close the transition, and the ribbon line extends from the ground to the crown of the tower and finally returns to the ground at the other end of the arc, thus realizing the effect of infinite circulation.

As the building skin is complex, our team combined with the model provided by the program, and used BIM technology to parameterize several comparisons and studies on the compartmentalization of the skin, and finally determined the way of division. Through modeling analysis, it can be learned that the tower slab is basically a four-point non-coplanar warped surface above 35F.

  Body type analysis


For the curved unit body part of the tower, after parametric analysis, it was optimized and simplified, and the overall flat plate fitting was used. For the four-point non-coplanar part, a combination of cold bending method and staggered insertion method is used to realize for different warpage values.


Tests have proved that the effect of on-site cold bending is better than factory cold bending, factory cold bending of the plate, there will be different degrees of rebound for various reasons. When the warpage value is less than 1/60 of the short side, it can be initially determined that the cold bending method does not have too much risk, so the warpage is less than 20mm, the cold bending method.

The tower adopts unit curtain wall design for overall installation, with decorative lines of metal panels at both ends of the large circular arc, and plane steel trusses set up between floors still adopts aluminum panel unit curtain wall, aiming to make all tower panels assembled in the factory to improve project quality and ensure landing.

Wave canopies, dynamic and sophisticated


The design of the first floor façade of CFC shows a different kind of ingenuity. The wave canopies, which are crafted at three times the cost of conventional office tower canopies, can not only achieve the function of shading the sun and avoiding rain, but also greatly enhance the overall flow of the building's line beauty, showing the style of the enterprise.

The project team solved the integration design problems of curtain wall, steel structure, space curved wave awning curtain wall and vertical shaped space metal sunshade curtain wall by means of parametric design, and finally realized the facade effect better.

BMU Programming


The configuration of BMU in super high-rise buildings has always been a key consideration, firstly, it needs to be coordinated with the design of the parking location to minimize the impact on the aesthetics of the building. Secondly, it needs to be clear that the main purpose of this system is to complete the maintenance work, followed by cleaning work, so that the cost can be controlled within a reasonable range.


Due to the project from the elevation of 305m to 319.5m micro-twisting, plus the top of the helicopter platform space, etc., the BMU action space caused great difficulties, in a wave of twists and turns in the optimization of a number of programs, the final landing program in the window cleaning machine inclined climbing angle of about 12 degrees.

In order to reduce the difficulty of inclined climbing, improve the safety of the whole system and reduce the construction difficulty, we adopt the track arrangement scheme of flat section turning and straight section slanting slide.

Curtain wall forms involved in this project include but not limited to: unit type glass curtain wall, small unit type stone-like aluminum panels, space shaped wave canopy, aluminum alloy grille, aluminum cladding steel glass curtain wall, light roof curtain wall (including the main steel structure), stone curtain wall, aluminum curtain wall, BMU, aluminum alloy glass curtain wall, aluminum alloy doors and windows and so on, will not go into details. Although time-consuming and long-lasting, there are hardships and irritation, but the fine landing, so everything is worthwhile, together with the head towards a new journey. Forcitis will continue to keep the original intention, rise to the challenge, and go forward.
