Dehong International Middle School in Qujiang, Xi'an

 Project background 

Dehong International Middle School in Qujiang, Xi'an is a localized high-end international school under DULWICH Education Group. Combining the essence of Chinese basic education with the leading educational philosophy of DULWICH International Education Group, it aims to cultivate future citizens who are well versed in the traditional virtues of Chinese culture and have inclusive and open world feelings. On the premise of rapid economic development and increasing population in Qujiang, the construction of new schools can meet the future educational development needs of New District in Qujiang.

 Design idea 

According to the advanced idea of Dehong on running a school, the traditional single educational form has gradually changed into a diversified and multi-level educational form. A series of interrelated outdoor activity areas of different sizes are distributed at different levels for students of different ages. These outdoor spaces have different characteristics, some are open, some are enclosed, some contain specific activity facilities and function settings, and some deliberately retain flexibility to adapt to the multi-functional campus leisure demands. These outdoor spaces and indoor teaching spaces penetrate and extend each other. They are not only a relaxing density, but also a vital step to create a comfortable, relaxed and interesting campus space.

 Facade design 

The horizontal lines on the facade of the building create a unique and pure visual effect. The interaction between different buildings not only presents a sense of light and shadow order, but also is full of rich changes. Looking along Yanxiang Road and Chuangyi Avenue, the buildings are strewn at random and varied in shape. Under the background of night lighting, expensive and fine exterior materials render another emotion of the buildings and enhance the identifiability of the project.

 Aluminum plat facade 

Building materials are mainly composed of magic series pearlescent white and dark composite aluminum plates. Magic series composite boards will emit different colors with the changes of light and weather, which makes the school atmosphere smart and lively.

The aluminum plate used in the project is large in size and controlled by 4m in length. To ensure flatness, we use aluminum composite plate and aluminum honeycomb plate as alternatives; Because the building requires high-gloss pearl white effect, the surface treatment of aluminum plate must be the pre-roll coating handling, which cannot be achieved by conventional fluorocarbon spraying; Party A chooses imported aluminum clad plate scheme and 4mm thick aluminum veneer.

Window-wall system 

Window-wall system was adopted in the project. In order to ensure the high-end effect of facade, conventional windows cannot be used to complete the system design; Finally, the window-wall system with facade appearance was adopted, meeting the design requirements of Party A and the scheme party. Profile is used to replace traditional aluminum plate as the main material in the parts such as line angle and window frame, which makes the facade language more delicate and the process more exquisite. It is also matched with vertical grille, and its straight and tall characteristics emphasize the sense of order.

Wood grain material has affinity, and the application of wood grain color composite board in theater block can stimulate creativity and talent of student. Folding plates are mainly used in theaters and storm-proof playground. There is little demand for window opening, and the facade, which is not rich enough originally, turns disadvantages into advantages through the rhythm of folding plate, and then after repeated scrutiny of details, forming a new cultural label different from other teaching buildings.
